good things

*a request from SS for their mar/april issue

*finding out i have 2 cards in the oct/nov the stamper's sampler

*a super nice email from tim @ MoBe stamps thanking me for the traffic that visited his great site from my blog and giving me a discount code to share with my friends...  if you're in the market for some cool alphas, leave me a comment or email and i'll share. =)  i got my century gothic set super fast and can't wait to use them.  and i've got pharmacy on my christmas list...  love that font.

*spending time with a good friend this morning, and passing along some of my old scrap stuff.

we'll just try and forget that the boys both have runny noses and major attitudes, a sure sign of impending illness.  after all, alex has been in the germ pool for 2 weeks, what did we expect??

ah yes. t'is the season...

let's hope the costume lasts till halloween, because he's worn it for the last 2 days straight.

ben and i are going shopping for his costume tomorrow while alex is in school.  it's sounding like he wants to be robin, too.  i miss the cute costumes already....

the roosters.

ah yes, the roosters.  doris dared me to use the roosters.  stef seconded the motion.  so how could i back away??  the roosters are SO NOT ME, but they were fun to work with.

that picture just cracks me up.  these are the moments i love to capture..  the totally off the wall stuff.

and yes, you might notice that it's a square. again.  i'm feeling strangley pulled the the bigger size...  more room for the *stuff* that i'm falling in love with and the white space that i've always loved to coexist side by side...  we'll see where this takes me.

*let there be LIGHT!  and for well under $100.  whew.  totally an easy job.  yay!  now to get some frames filled and hung over the piano....

*got a copy of The Rubber Stamper (oct issue) w/ a card of mine in it - yay!

*got an email from my friend heather alerting me to the fact that MoBe has new century gothic stamps... and you *know* i've already ordered them.  yay again.

just one of those weeks...

...allergies have taken over my brain and made me incapable of  carrying on a train of thought for more than a few seconds.  as a result my blog reading and email communications have been scattered. =P

me and my mojo have been at odds this week... until i remembered to step back and stop planning.  i *can not* plan LOs, they just don't work.  i need to let them happen.  they need to evolve.  so happy to be past that block..  especially since i have new MOD to play with. =D

girls' night out with stef tonight..  or rather, girls' late afternoon /early evening out, since i have to be home for bedtime...  either way, it'll be fun.

on the house front, we have an electrician coming monday morning to give us an estimate.  i'm so crossing my fingers for good news - maybe we'll have light in the dining room soon.

*alex loves school, but the transition to a new routine is not. going. well.

*the little tin that scrapworks rubons come in makes me *far* too happy.

*finally entered the real world and turned the little dial on my drebel to "m" ...  wish me luck.  my brain is filled with knowledge from the book understanding exposure and hints from angi, so here's hoping i'll learn quickly.

but, if pressed (ie by a certain DT contest's requirements), she WILL make teeny tiny LOs and stick them in a cd case.

and, yes.  it drives me nuts that i put a picture of ben w/ my ipod shuffle on a CD CASE, because you don't really need a cd if you have an ipod.  i'm a literalist.  i can't help it.

i feel compelled to explain:

i didn't count my LOs.  well, at least not all at once.  i keep a running total in my handy dandy calendar o' deadlines.  i've also made 119 cards. =D

local gals: we seem to have inadvertantly set up a scrapworks unpacking party at creative elements on saturday morning.  be there, or we'll buy it all and there won't be any left for you.  ;)

*i finished my 100th LO of the year the other day. =) 

*i won a LO contest at a peek into yesterday.  gotta love gift certificates!!

*stef and i are going to do some design work for my sorta-LSS - creative elements.  i'm also going to do a website redesign for them.  we met today to discuss terms and stef's going to put on her lawyer hat and write the contracts. fun, fun, fun. =)  and i'll have the opportunity to teach classes in the future..  ie: when my husband's done with school next summer.

*jill is hooking me up with more target HS goodies.  have i mentioned lately how much i *heart* jill.

*photo corner punch insanity has reached record levels.

*alex started back to school this week...  i'm looking forward to settling into a schedule.

one year ago today....

a girl put gluestick to paper w/ the intention of creating a scrapbook page.  I was not a craft virgin - I'd dabbled in cards for a few years and had been reading my mom's creating keepsakes subscription.  when a friend became a CM consultant and started hosting crops, i decided it sounded like a good way to get out of the house.  now, i never had any intention of scrapping the CM way, so i went to archiver's and bought some cardstock and some doodads, and all was well.

and here is the page i made:

note the lack of journaling.  the page STILL isn't journaled, because, honestly, "hey look, you're coloring with sidewalk chalk!" really didn't do it for me.  and i sort of floundered about, making pages that really didn't speak to me for some time...  until i discovered books by cathy zielske & ali edwards that opened up my mind to scrapping the way that i do today.

it didn't happen over night.  swtitching to 8.5x11 from 12x12 back in february made a big difference.  and putting togehter my PKPT entry made a HUGE impact on my style.  i've evolved and grown a lot since then, but i can see the basis for the current work in those pages.

and here's where i am today.  i challenged myself to rescrap that first page...  and here's how i did it.

so, here's to the last year of growing, and to many more to come.  it's been fun so far. =D

i have a few other odds and ends to babble about, but i'll save them for another day.
