*i have some fun new pics and lots scrappy plans in my head
*i'm getting close to having a living room paint color

so, i'm at my grandma's yesterday, flipping through the march issue of country home when there it is - the solution to all of my bedroom woes:
i hate our current headboard. we have it because i was 7mos pregnant with ben when we upgraded from a full to a queen, and i was tired of looking, so we bought the cheapest one they had so that i could replace it when i had more patience. and we live in an old house - which means the closet / storage situation is pretty dire. and we have waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many books.
so, when it's finally OUR bedroom's turn to get fixed up (meaning pull out the carpet and paint the walls), i think we're going to do this. easy, cheap, and we'll gain a lot of storage space. though i suspect we'll have a lot more baskets & books on our shelves than the ones in the picture...
for some reason, i just can't catch up this month. i feel as though i've been scrambling since it started.
i knew nisa would be out the weekend of the 12th and that she was going to do a headshot for me. and i really meant to schedule a haircut before then... and completely spaced it off. so i did what i could with my hair and the picked the shot that made it the least obvious that there was no hope for it. and now it's a week and a half later and have i even managed to schedule a haircut? nope.
alex turns 5 on sunday. do i have presents? other than a couple of oddball things, no. and tomorrow's his bday at preschool and we have to hit the grocery store for something to take for their snack time. AND i wanted to pick up a book to donate to the school, and some ink pads to go along with the stamps that i'm donating. how is it already here??
and we won't even talk about all of the scrappy time i wasted watching the pub during the hall of fame calls. nope. not even going to talk about that.
aaaaaaaaaaaah. maybe i should just start april now, and get a head start.
some of you have commented / emailed asking for details on the fabulous frame that kelly & miley gave me for my birthday.. here's the info, straight from kelly. =)
sometimes i worry. about trends and staying power, about whether i missed the window for my style to be big.
but, ya know what? there's no need to worry. because if it's soundly designed, wonderfully photographed and truthfully written, it *will* rose to the top. and kelly's work proves that. she's been around through the passing of many trends, and has always produced gorgeous projects that stand the test of time.
and now, after 2 honorable mentions, she's a HALL OF FAME-er!!!!!!!
congrats, girl. i'm honored to call you my friend, and i am OH SO FREAKING HAPPY for you!!!!! =)
so. last night there were some memories created, let me tell you. we probably managed to create some for the people at the tables near us, too. ;) stef, kelly, miley, holly, becky & i terrorized poor waitress beth at old chicago for 3 hours last night - and we probably could have sat and talked for 3 more hours if my poor husband wasn't stuck at home with 4 kids (he was a super daddy and watched stef's kids so she could come along despite her babysitter issues). i love these girls. i love that we can celebrate, commiserate, support & inspire each other.
