there's nothing like a little sorting and organizing to make you stop and think about why you have what you have. and this time around i finally had it in me to really think about the stamp stash.
i started out 6 years ago as a stamper, making cards. and continued that way for over 4 years before i fell into scrapbooking. in the last year or so, i've really found my comfort zone in scrapping and have made cards less and less.. and the stamps got neglected.
about 2 weeks ago i up and dumped all of them into a sack and stuck them into the basement. and found myself making some cards out of bits and pieces from my scrap stash, without feeling any pressure to try and use the stamps. and i knew i'd make the right decision.
stef came over today and dug through them and made herself a nice little pile to take home.. and there are still SO many to sort and ebay. that will probably be a fall / winter project, once the kids are in school. i had to snap a pic of the pile.. the copy paper box at the corner of the pic is filled w/ stampin' up sets & more loose stamps. how did i get so many? eeeeeeeeeeeek.
i've left myself all of my alphas, and my favorite shape sets from fontwerks, tecnique tuesday & autumn leaves... a managable, useable stash. and it feels good. =)
so, blog i will..
and since i can't think of anything to say, i'll make a confession:
i bought jenni bowlin's june kit. just for the stamp.
i'd better start using it on everything that i do, huh? 'cause that's one expensive stamp. i mean, i suppose i'll use bits and pieces from the rest of the kit, but it was really all about that stamp.
here's the stamp. you were probably expecting something a little more flashy. ;) but, alas, it is understated, but PERFECT.
(sung to the tune of california girls, of course)
today was bagel day. minus the lovely becky, who couldn't make it, but we DID have a new girl - denise, who just moved back to town. maybe we'll have our embroidered pink satin jackets by the next time we get together.
but the real reason of this post is pure silliness. love the gmail girls as much as the bagel girls. =)
eta: an updated image. =)
the organization craziness continues. things are SO close to done in here... and i can't wait. need to make a target run tomorrow for another magazine holder for the boys' paper, and some boxes for their finished art projects. i have a couple more stacks that need to be sorted through.
unfortunately, the rest of the house has been neglected while i worked on this... *sigh* as has blogging.. though i did take some time to make a new banner and add some new catagories to my lists. =) happy browsing, there's some fun links over there!!
in march, i got an email from a dear friend that made me sit and stare. and reread. and get up and pace. i cried and wished there was SOMETHING that i could do. gabby and erika had lost their sister alex. her life ended way too early.
and they're doing their best to raise aneroxia awareness. they are selling shirts through cafe press that will help get the facts out, and the proceeds will go towards research. they've organized a memorial run in alex's honor. they are doing something.
and i'm doing something, too. something small, but something. i bought my tee shirt, and will wear it and tell alex's story. and i'm honored to be a part of art for alex - a totally cool fundraiser put together by nisa.
and i challenge YOU to do something. learn about anorexia. make a donation. buy a tshirt. get the word out about the fundraiser. SOMETHING.
