loved this kit. lovelovelovelove.
i got the skycoaster and whacky shack add-ons - if i had to pick one, i would have to say that sky coaster was my favorite. you can't go wrong with those JBS butterflies and the jillibean alpha.
this was my first page for the month. it uses just the main kit.i had snapped this photo shortly before the kit came, and while it's not technically a "good" photo, it tells such a good story that i couldn't wait to scrap it. i wasn't sure about those k&co frames when i saw the pic of them online but when i opened the package they were the first thing i reached for. i started with a pp background (totally rare for me), and added some turquoise mist. i used a craft knife to cut an opening in the sass bingo paper and backed it with the crate blue patterned paper. the stars are punched with fiskars XL and M twinkle twinkle punches and are on foam adhesive for a bit more dimension. oh, and i couldn't resist using my tiny attacher on the stars and frames. that thing is addicting! i wasn't too sure about the red in the color scheme at first, and almost flipped those pieces over to their yellow reverse side, but in the end, i decided it worked, in an odd way. the journaling and title are on one of the sc exclusive papers for the month.
this page is rather simply constructed. i started with the fabulous SC paper and built from there. i attempted to type on the angle, a la april - but had some issues, which you can see if you look closely. ;) i stamped the "happy" sentiment stamp from the skycoaster add-on with spiced marmalade on the woodgrain stripes for a bit of a tone on tone effect, and added stitched to each row on the pp. the banner, starsand the jillibean corrugated "a" were sprayed with blue raspberry mist (i sanded the letter), and the jillibean letters from whacky shack were sprayed with lemon mist to make them a bit darker. a little bit of bling and some tiny attaching finished off the page.
this one is a combo of skycoaster and whacky shack, and was entirely inspired by those house stamps. i love how the little row of house stamps works together with the photo to tell the story. the houses are stamped with tumbled glass (solid) and broken china (outline). i stamped them all on the graph sass patterned paper, and then ran them through the typewriter and added names before cutting them out and attaching them to the page with foam adhesive. the background is sprayed with tangerine mist and my addiction to the sass banners started with this page.. you'll notice it continues, LOL.
this page was inspired by a page in real simple. i'll be doing a tutorial on it in the next couple weeks. i thought the monogram was a fun idea, and fit the theme of the page. i actually came across this story when i was searching my blog for something else, and had to get it onto a page before i forgot about it again! i used turquoise mist on the background, and bits and pieces of all three add-ons and the main. the alphabet stamp border was a last minute addition when that space was looking too empty.
after this page, i got stuck. s.t.u.c.k. i started three, yes, THREE different pages, and couldn't get anywhere. so i dropped them all, and printed a pic that makes me giggle.
see? cracks.me.up. how can you not look at that pic and be happy?? and hello, full blown border sticker addiction!! i thought it would be fun to use them to make my own patterned paper. i cut a strip of the sass pp and then added rows of the border stickers and stitched them in place. this is another page that got a turquoise background - i reached for that color a lot this month! most of this page is joyland + skycoaster, but i did add a border sticker and sticker button from the jillibean label sheet in whacky shack. i also used some aqua baker's twine.
after finishing the naptime page, i went back to one that i'd been stuck on. i had the titlework done, and had the grey rubons on the crate pp, and wanted to use the butterflies.. but it wasn't working. i ended up adding the backing from the sc exclusive rubs - isn't that blue pattern gorgeous? and a bit of the 7gs black and white pp. i tilted things a bit so they weren't lined up. i added some typing on the pink paislee graph tape and a yellow border from some sass pp. a label sticker with a bg micro "s" and some tiny attaching and i was happy. really happy. i love how this turned out in the end. and though i've scrapped this pic of little sam before, it's always been on work that's been sent away - so i'm glad to have a page with it in my books!
this was another of my abandoned pages. i really liked the border i had created, and didn't want to ditch it all together - but there wasn't enough room in the middle for me to work. what can i say - i like my white space. i ended up printing one of my favorite pics at 8x8in and slipping it into the middle. i had a 12x12 shadowbox frame from target, and it will fit in sam's room perfectly.
so, that's joyland. =) if you have any questions, ask away!
also, there's scads of new punches in the shop. i couldn't resist the photo labels - they'll be coming with my next kit. a lot of them have already sold out, but will be restocked on monday. =)
