(smokebombs at dusk)
it's crazy, isn't it? this weekend marked the halfway point of our summer. 6 weeks down, 6 weeks to go. and july is so packed that i know it will pass in a blink. we have a long family weekend out of town planned, as well as a trip for matthew and the boys to see a KC royals game and a quick trip to cha for me. the boys have a soccer camp and a day camp through school. i have school fundraiser stuff that has to be written up and turned in so it can be printed on time. there's a fair amount of paper + glue on the to do list, too. and let's not forget the three little boys who want to go to the park, the pool, the sprinkler park, the zoo, the children's museum - or, at the very least, be outside as many waking hours as humanly possible. oh, and someone turns three.
(puddles!)
our 4th started out rainy. insanely rainy. not even stormy, just hours of heavy rain. and then hours of light rain. we took advantage of netflix's streaming movies and watched up, and made pancakes for an early dinner. by 6ish, the rain let up, so we got in an evening of blowing things up.
the boys kept busy w/ smokebombs, snakes and flowers while it was light out.. and a fair amount of just running around together.
matthew had taken alex and ben to the final blast at the 'blatt the night before- they headed out before dinner for the game and finally got home shortly before midnight. so the bigs were both looking a little wiped out by the time it was dark enough for more fireworks.
our usual block bbq was cancelled because of the rain but there were
still a fair amount of people out and about. the boys have a set of friends whose grandparents live on our corner, and we ended up crashing their fireworks show once again. =)
sam spent the last hour or so we were there going between loving it and wanting to go home and go to bed, but at the end of the night, he decided that sparklers were pretty cool. and after two late nights in a row, yesterday was a pretty quiet day around here.
we're moving fairly slowly this morning, too - by which i mean that no one was up before 7. these boys need to learn to sleep in! i'm thinking today might be a sprinkler park day... i have to admit that i'm too nervous to brave the pool w/ all three on my own. happy tuesday, everyone. =)
