this kit and i, well, we had a rollercoaster of a relationship. when i first saw it, i LOVED it. when i opened it, it was beautiful. but when i started to use it... well, we didn't get along that well. this month was a bit crazy - it started with me having a cold, and then we were trying to live up the last days of summer vacation, and then trying to get back into a routine w/ the boys in school... and i don't scrap well when i can't focus!! so after a few rough starts and redos, september and i found our pace together. whew. i really do appreciate when kits kick me out of my comfort zone, i'm just not always accepting of that in the moment. ;) and once i'd finished, i realized i was obviously feeling the rectangle this month. it's been a while since i've done this many 8.5x11s in a row! when all was sad and done, though, i was really happy with my projects. maybe i'll play a bit more now that i'm back to loving it. =)
i worked with the main kit, back 40, as well as the free range and open pasture addons, and the stamps from fresh cut. free range was my top addon pick - i loved the more graphic papers, the boyish colors, the jbs buttons and the bg tape.
this was page number one with the kit. and also page number 5, because i ended up reworking it. it started on the light green cardstock and when i went back to it, i just wanted it to have more pop. so i ended up with this dark blue (looooooooooove this color. love) that i'd misted with the intent of using it on my home run derby LO, which eventually got switched to a kraft background. did you follow all that? LOL.
(back40 + brads from open pasture + tape from free range + classic butterfly punch + blue raspberry mist + avocado mist + tiny attacher + old HS mask + big scallop punch)
this was my all boy page.... even in the softer, prettier kits, there are enough graphic pieces to make a layout that's not girly at all. i really wanted to use that ticket on the page, but it gave me fits.... i was glad when it found a place that worked.
(back 40 + brads & star sticker from open pasture + free range + pumice stone ink + fiskars M & L star punches & L block party punch + star hand punch + blue raspberry mist + tiny attacher + foam adhesive)
i'm kind of in love with the ruler stamp in the main kit. okay, totally in love. funny story, when we were at cha april asked if there were any stamps we'd love to see and i mentioned a ruler. and she laughed. and then she showed us the september kit. i used it to make a background here.
(back 40 + free range + brad from open pasture + brown baker's twine + avocado mist + pumice stone ink + tiny attacher)
this was the page that made me forget every cranky word i'd said while making the other three LOs. once i'd printed the pic, i had this baby done in under half an hour. and i love it. it's definitely my favorite this month.
(back 40 + open pasture + free range + stamps from fresh cut, broken china ink, turquoise and lemon mist, classic butterfly punch, apple punch, notebook paper punch, fiskars popup star & star hand punch, tiny attacher)
after i made that last page, i was playing around with the basic grey tape and realized i could mist it. um, HELLO! love the effect - slightly tinted. first i sprayed a bit and used it on the card below, and then i ended up adding bits of another piece, sprayed with avocado, to two of my earlier LOs.
(back 40 + free range + pumice stone ink + 3in1 butterfly punch + bumpy road punch + tiny attacher + hydrangea mist)
and did you see this in the shop? i had to order one. can't wait for elementary to hit stores - it's not too much longer now!
also - it's pretty picked over at this point, but the last time i looked there were a few things left. big paper sale!!!
and now, it's bedtime. alex has a 9am game tomorrow morning. yawn. but it will be nice to have the rest of the day free!
