happy monday, friends! we're kicking off studio calico's new releases with a blog hop! the entire design team is sharing projects made with the new line - and we've all got giveaways. you can find links to all of the DTers blogs over at the studio calico blog, or you can just follow along from blog to blog - i'll have a link for you at the end of this post. ;)
i've got three pages to share with you today - i've loved working with the new stuff. first up is a page made just for this blog hop. i couldn't resist mixing in some goods from CANDY SHOPPE - that stamp from licorice twist was calling my name!
(state fair guess your weight pp, midway pp & fabrips + green addy alpha + mister huey's pickle mist + wood veneer buttons + wood veneer alpha + wood veneer stars + days of the week rubons + circle punch + alphabet soup brads + tiny attacher + stamp from licorice twist + bits from candy shoppe + seed packet ink + 7gs paper tape + circle punch)
see? i told you that pickle + seed packet = a perfect match. to make the misted circles on this page, i punched a series of circles in a piece of scrap paper, and then masked off the rest of the page and sprayed over it with the pickle mist. i did it again in the right bottom corner, but let the mask hang off the side of the page to make half circles. you can see that i didn't mask off the whole page perfectly - i love the little extra bits that got misted.
this next page has a whole lot of veneer button love. and state fair tag love. probably my two favorite items from the new release - if we're not counting the mists.
(state fair tickets please pp, midway pp, pie contest pp, die cut tags & label stickers + wood veneer buttons + green addy alpha + yellow addy alpha + mister huey's pickle & lemonade mists + atmosphere + double embossed scallop punch + alphabet soup brad + gems from candy shoppe + tiny attacher)
i started this page by misting the background with lemonade, then i masked off most of it with a piece of scrap paper punched with my big scallop punch and then misted just the edge with pickle. i made a little banner with the buttons, and i couldn't resist adding that brad - how perfect is it with this pic of sam on a vintage truck? the photo is by becky novacek, btw - and is one of my all time faves. that face is so sam.
for this last page, april requested that i do a page similar to my snowmen layout. the background is a perfect way to show off the new mist colors. i used almost all of them - i only left out pony (brown) and barnwood (gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous light gray).
(state fair tickets please pp, midway pp, pie contest pp, guess your weight pp, die cut tags & label stickers + yellow addy alpha + mister huey's color mists + woodgrain, green and orange butterfly rubons + wood veneer buttons + veneer stars, alpha & frame + atmosphere + vintage doily punch + tiny attacher + gems from candy shoppe)
i think i love this more than the snowmen page. i love the whimsy of the addy alphabet mixed with the chunky veneer letters. i love how the veneer takes mist - i matched the buttons to the background. the mist colors are, from top to bottom : piglet, hot dog, orchard, lemonade, clover, pickle, bluegrass, & bonny blue.
now that you've seen how i've used the new goods, you've got a chance to WIN some of them. leave a comment by 12am EST on wednesday morning to win a package of the veneer buttons and the addy alphabet in green! i'll be posting a winner on wednesday, along with a few more candy shoppe peeks. =)
your next stop on the blog hop is maggie holmes - and if you get lost along the way, you can return to the studio calico blog. =) don't forget to stop by all of them - we've all got giveaways going. good luck!
