since the bigs were off school thursday / friday, we decided to make a quick trip down to kansas city.
we hit the road early, with gameboys in tow. ha. it was a quiet ride down. ;)
we stayed at great wolf lodge, in a room w/ a little cabin for the kids. there were bunk beds and another single bed in a little alcove. sam thought this was BEYOND awesome, and dibsed the bottom bunk.
the bigs probably spent 5+ hours in the water on thursday. sam spent about 2, and we hung out in the hotel room while the brothers played. ben refused to do any waterslides, but loved the lazy river and playing water basketball. alex did a lot of the smaller slides since the wait for the big one was INSANE!
we took a break in between swimming sessions to grab dinner. alex made a giant paper airplane out of his menu.
mom and dad split a pitcher of beer to steel their nerves against a few more hours at the noisy, crazy waterpark. ;)
sam was done swimming for the night before the bigs, so we went to pajama story time. =) that's a sleepy kiddo! no nap + lots of swimming wore him out. after this, we headed back to the room and he passed out on me. around 2am, he woke up running a fever. and since he tends to puke when his fever gets too high, matthew got to run out in search of a walgreens. sigh. poor boy. =( the next morning the bigs got up and went BACK to the pool for a couple hours while sam and i watched pbskids.
once they'd had enough water time, we checked out and headed to fritz's railroad restaurant. alex kept saying he was tired - and he fell asleep in the car. and then in the restaurant. he slept through lunch. this restaurant is too much fun - your food is delivered by train. gotta love that.
after lunch, we hit moon marble. alex was still asleep, so ben and sam and i picked out marbles for him. as i was paying, matthew called to tell me alex had woken up long enough to throw up. greeeeeeeeeat.
luckily, there's room to run around behind moon marble, so that's what ben and sam did while matthew cleaned up the car.. we also got to watch a train pass on the tracks behind the store.
and we somehow made it home w/ no further incident. sam slept most of the way and had to be taken out of his carseat and snuggled everytime we stopped. alex woke up about 30 min from home, but was still feeling pretty rough.
we spent the whole weekend doing nothing to recover. =)
happy monday, friends!
