memory keeping monday : takeoff

monday, already??! matthew and i had a fabulous little getaway to KC - including spending a couple hours in a 4 story antique store. (i'll share more about that tomorrow!) and the boys were thouroughly spoiled by their grandparents. we got back saturday night and hit the giant THUD of back to reality on sunday - i spent the day working on this video, we did a LOT of laundry, and ben had his first baseball practice.

monday, as usual, means another memory keeping monday from 2peas. and this week it's my turn again. i couldn't resist breaking into my new echo park this & that charming and october afternoon sasparilla goodies - they coordinate really well. you'll find more info on this page + a start to finish video here. this time, i shared a few thoughts on choosing photos for a page, and on stamping on your background. 

and for us, this monday means the start of spring break! we've had a good lazy morning, but someone is bugging me to go play catch - so i guess it's time to get moving. hope you have a great one!

 

a little huey love

in honor of mister huey being the steal over at scrapbook steals today, i thought i'd post a few mist-y pages. =)  now go forth and get inky!

happy happy friday! matthew and i are hitting the road today.. grandma's coming over for some quality boy time. we're looking forward to good food and uninterrupted sleep, they're anticipating pizza and movie time and pancakes. i think we'll all come out of this happy. =)

my 2012 : captured // march class went up today. this month the topics were digi journaling cards & adding other voices into your album. my two fabulous contributer this month were erica hernandez & joscelyne cutchens. you can see their pages here (erica) and here (joscelyne). they both aboslutely rocked their weeks and have SO much awesome info to share with all of you!!

week 9 : february 25th-march 2nd // origami yoda. painting the bathroom. trying out a two wheeler. sick ben. 

with this month's focus being on adding other voices, it was definitely in my thoughts as i took notes and photos this week. it's something that i let slide when i get busy, but everytime i come back to making sure to include quotes & kid written journaling, i'm glad i took the time.

i had a lot of fun finding new ways to personalize digi journaling cards.. i hope you'll stop over to the class to read more!

happy happy thursday! yesterday i stopped being 35 and started being 36.... ;) i had a wonderful day celebrating w/ my boys. and now it's back to errands and trying not to catch a cold. the weather's too gorgeous to be stuffy and icky headed!

a day in the life - the mini

back on february 8th, i joined ali edwards and a zillionty other people and recorded a day in the life. and after going back and forth on what i wanted to do with the photos, i decided to go all in and put them in an amy tangerine daybook. to make sure i didn't procrastinate, i emailed jamie at 2peas and asked her if i could do the mini as one of my garden projects. she said yes - and just like that, iwas committed.

i started this book on a grey & rainy day. i made myself a little kit of supplies and parked it on the living room floor. sam watched a movie and did a little of his own crafting while i worked. i took a LOT of breaks to play. =) i finally decided that the easiest way to put it all together was in stages. i went page by page and attached photos and numbers. then i went through and added patterned paper. then i worked on the pages that backed one another and added final embellishments + stitching. and then, FINALLY, it was done. and totally worth it.

happy tuesday!! i can't believe how quickly it's turning into spring. the boys & our neighbors playing outside in t-shirts.  ben & matthew made a trip to the batting cages. open windows (and a kitty enjoying them). basketball brackets being filled out. even with a crazy mild winter, i'm still so ready for sunshine + warm.

i can never get on her bad side

long story short, marcy penner knows what my scrap room looks like on a regular basis. hello, blackmail material.

but seriously. one of my favorite things about scrapbooking is the people that i've met. both locally and far flung. my only regret is that the far flung people AREN'T local. but email and imessage go a long way towards keeping up. marcy and i both live in words filled with pretty paper, the quirks of living + remodeling an old house, and lego + harry potter obsessed kids. except she lives just a FEW miles north of me. ;) so when her vacation plans brought her through my neighborhood, i was glad for a chance to meet her. i'm sure our boys would have gotten along famously, if they all hadn't been 8-10 year old boys and therefore unable to actually open their mouths and talk to each other. ahem. sam was a crazy ball of showoff, and molly was polite, kind, and happy to be getting her hands on some xmen comics. and getting to put a face with the name that's in my inbox all the time was totally worth a little kid awkwardness. ;)

happy monday! the time change + a gray morning has me moving slowly. there's just not enough diet coke in the world for this sort of brain fog. sam's got a buddy coming home w/ us after school - i'm hopeful that keeping him busy will let me finish up some scrap + house chores that have been lingering for way too long.

week 8 // february 18th-24th : days off school. sunshine and snow. the craziest sleepover ever.

i never really plan a color scheme - but sometimes they just find me. for this week, i finished 5 or 6 pockets and then realized that most of them were aqua / yellow / turquoise. funny how that happens. =)

i actually took photos with the real camera this week! i'm still struggling with remembering to pick it up - though the better light this time of year really helps.

i ended up with too many photos for the smaller pockets - so i opted to layer two to squeeze them in. i just added journaling directly to the larger photo.

i used a lot of memorabilia for this week - i love having it as part of this story.

the banners + hooray is a letterpress card i received this week - i cut the image out and layered it over ben's social studies test. the little clip keeps it from all slipping out of the page protector - i've found that bulkier items have a tendency to slip up in the pockets. and yes. that IS the laser from our wii. it might be the oddest thing i've added to my album.

happy tuesday!!! it was 50degrees at 9am.. high of 70 today. WOW. time to open the windows. the bigs were outside till bedtime last night - running around and playing spies with their buddies in the dark. so glad that spring is creeping in.

what a wonderful world

and just like that, it's monday. the weekend flew by - and really, the only thing of consequence that we accomplished was to get haircuts x3 for the boys. but we did go out to breakfast, watch harry potter & the goblet of fire and a creighton basketball game, and played a zillionty rounds of hide and seek. there was also a small blanket fort, reading, project life-ing, some bike riding and a little video game playing. oh, and a two peas box and some mcd's ice cream to finish it off. all in all, a good weekend.

as i was cleaning up some photo files, i realized that i hadn't shared this card. confetti, label stickers, doilies and washi - all of my favorites on one card. =) the sentiment stamp is from one of the new SC sets. to make it, i layered the doily, washi, label & heart stickers off center, and then added punched confetti. i sprayed the whole thing with studio calico shine, then stamped on the washi with black stazon. to balance off the design, i added a strip of patterned paper and some more washi along the left. this is one of my go to card designs - it's so easy to mix up by using different shapes for the layers along the right side.

happy friday!! i got an early start on the weekend by blowing off my desk and spending the morning w/ some moms from school. a friend that moved out of town last summer is back for the weekend - it was good to catch up with her. much talk of kids, PTO stuff and old house home renovation stories. it was a much needed diversion at the end of a busy busy week!
