it's reveal night at studio calico! i knew central high would be up there in the faves me for - i've been dying to get my hands on the new amy tangerine stuff since the first preview came out. if i had to pick a favorite addon, i think it would be style guide - love the speech bubbles and the amy alpha! and based on presale, it looks like these might be in stock for a bit - yay for increased quantities! the card kit sold out in preorders but if you want to get on the waiting list, click here.
letting go - big changes here this year. my oldest, who could have done 6th grade at our neighborhood elementary, opted to go to a science and tech magnet middle school. which is REALLY cool. but as a mama. ACK. it was not easy to put him on that bus! i made this page the same day - it was definitely therapeutic! i misted the background paper with pinstripe and shine - and then added a little white to tone it all down a bit. the map die cut was the perfect place to hide a little journaling - i just stitched it to the page to create a pocket.
dude - this page and i... well. we had words. several times. you may remember it from the sneak slide show... only back then it had a charcoal background. and it just felt WRONG. and i tried to fix it like 4 times before very carefully pulling it apart and rebuilding it on the grid. AH. much better. i started by using the starburst mask with mister huey's shine, and then i added some triangle stamping along the rays. i loved the hey jen renee word bubbles so i cut another one from the amy tangerine paper to hold the journaling - they're perfect grouped together!

squeeze - i always go into first day of school photos having no idea what to expect. well, i'm usually fairly certain that i WON'T get a traditional photo of them all standing nicely with their eyes open and a normal look on their faces ;) this year's photo is just another glimpse into the craziness that these boys bring into our lives everyday. =)
i LOVED the big diecut 3, but it was a bit too bold for the page, so i stuck it in the glassine bag the diecuts from the main kit came in. and then i figured some confetti wouldn't hurt. ;) i added the map paper across the top because i LOVED this ledger paper as a background but didn't want to sacrifice all of the cute cameras on the back - so i saved a strip to use later. to finish the page, i basically arranged all of my fave bits and pieces from the kits to fill in the page. the journaling is sideways because a 12in sheet of paper won't fit in my typewriter, but it was *just* narrow enough the other way to go in.

hello - i'll admit it. i'm in love with this lightbulb cut and basically flipped through pics till i found something that would work with it. how perfect is it for a page about electricity camp?? i backed the upper part of the bulb with a white patterned paper, and used gray for the bottom part, then added stitching. i used a lot of papers from the 6x6 pad from the card kit on this page - i love the smaller scale when i'm working with a lot of little bits of paper!
