halloween

i am NOT a good halloween scrapper. i think it goes hand in hand with my general distrust of most theme-y products. ;)  but i'm trying to be better to at least get a record of the boys' costumes. i mean, if i'm going to put us all through the rigamarole of getting a photo of them together, i might as well USE IT, right?  the only halloween products that went onto this page were the black washi and the black pp - though neither are really themey, they just happened to come from a halloween line. my favorite part is the row of houses up top - it just makes me think of trick or treating. =)

we are now on to halloween 2012 costume planning. the littlest opted for a captain america costume (complete with fake muscles). the bigs want to be minecraft guys. which means we're hoarding cardboard boxes and trying to find ways that we can make box heads that have a decent range of sight. good times. ;)

oh, this page. i love the finished result but the getting there? it kind of sucked. i hadn't scrapped in about 10 days - do you have a hard time getting back into the groove, too?  as a resulted, the "finished" page in the video and the REAL finished page are different, and i talk a bit at the end about how sometimes, you have to figure out what just ISN'T working. you can watch the video here.

those twine + ink vellum diecuts are gorgeous, right??  i expect you'll see a lot of them on my pages and in my PL. they were the perfect starting point for this page about sir chats-a-lot. oh man, i can still remember the feeling i had this day, that i might go absolutely crazy without a few minutes with NO TALKING.

we made a little discovery the weekend. poor ben has had a couple allergy attacks where his face gets blotchy and his eyes get swelly... well, we've pinpointed it to petting the cat. he's never had a problem being around her, but apparently petting her and then touching his face = BAD. we were a little shocked to have a reaction like that pop off after 9 years... but it's the only things his allergy attacks have in common. luckily, benedryl and claritin clear it right up.

the rest of our weekend was less eventful - a little more grounds clean up at school (saturday was mulch day), an archery class for the bigs, some football watching and football playing, and a visit to grandmas. and now we're back aroung to monday. and i'm off to enjoy my quiet house until it's time to get sam!

project life week 38 // september 15-21

week 38 // september 15-21 : a huskers game. rainbow bread. a washington winner. show & tell. guitar. field trips.

i put this week together using the ROLLER RINK card kit - which is sold out. but the ROLLER RINK scrapbook kit has the same papers (just bigger!), and many embellies that are the same / similar. LOVED working w/ such a limited amount of items - it made the week go together super fast.

i also took advantage of the ROLLER RINK printables. the yellow speech bubble card is my favorite!

happy thursday!! it's been a bit of a crazy week. i started this post on monday, if they tells you anything. ;) nothing big, just a lot of little things that needed attention. but today, today is good. aside from not being able to find the cookie butter at trader joe's, everything's been smooth sailing. and i like that. =) gives me a little time to focus on sunshine, yellow leaves, and playing legos w/ a certain small dude.
