I have a thing for green patterned paper. There's just something about a really good green in a kit that makes me happy. I'd not really noticed this before, but between looking at my layouts with Studo Calico's Bluegrass Farm kits & taking note of what's going in the "keep" pile of my workspace cleanout - let's just say there's a lot of green.
There's a perfect green polka dot by Tim & Beck in the Bluegrass Farm Scrapbook kit. And I used it on 3 out of 4 layouts with the kit. And I have several scraps left and will continue to use it on projects until it is 100% GONE.
Whether or not you're green obsessed, Bluegrass Farm is a pretty happy kit. It has a lovely yellow and a fabulous navy and some weathered woodgrain, too. Here's what I made with it :

This story was too small to condense into one photo. I printed my favorite a bit larger than the others and arranged them in order down my page. After adding my journaling and embellishing my photo strip, I felt the top left corner of the page just needed something. So why not a cascade of stars? I stitched them in place with yellow twine. The only paper more perfect than the green dot is the aqua and white ledger with the yellow arrow up the side. I really wouldn't say no to 50 more sheets of that!

The colors and wood tones in this kit immediately brought to mind photos of the boys exploring Tom Sawyer Island at Disneyworld. This attraction is a lovely little oasis in the middle of the park, and we had such a great time exploring every little nook and cranny. When I make a two pager, I typically chose a feature photo to use on the first page, and then support it with a collection of smaller prints. My focus on the left page was texture - the wood tag, the transparent letters, layers of paper (including the negative from some star confetti). I kept these layers in softer tones, then contrasted it with a bold navy and green background on a very simple second page.
explore | Pip add-on + Bessie add-on + watercolors + Platnium Status sequins + Clean Slate & Deja Blue ink
This page started with Studio Calico's first embellishment only add-on, Pip. (it's still available - for now!) I wasn't able to resist bringing in a bit of patterned paper, but I started this page by watercoloring strips of grid paper in colors that matched the puffy hearts. I arranged these strips, added some stamping and layered embellishments.

Ah, spring break. Ours was so early that I'm a little shocked everytime someone else mentions that theirs is just starting! Our early March break was NOT very spring-y, but we did get our lazy on. In fact, I'd give us an A+ in lazy skills. I started this page by diecutting lots of labels, and then added stamping embellishments to some of them. My photo, title and journaling were stacked under my label grid.
And now that my kit work is done, it's time to find my desk. And my floor. And really get going on my workspace clean out. I've decided that the way to do it is to pick ONE problem spot to focus on each weekend. I've started a thread over on the Studio Calico message board if you want to join in! I thought it would be a good way to help us all stay accountable and have built in cheerleaders. =) If you're REALLY brave, share your before on Instagram with #SCworkspacechallenge. My first area of attack is my kit storage. Which has overflowed into this pile on the floor, which keeps tipping over.
Studio Calico offers three types of monthly kits - Scrapbook, Card & Project LifeĀ® - as well as add-on kits and shop items to complement them.
